What the certification covers
Certified as a finished protector, which is the harder version.
Most organic claims in bedding are made about a fabric before anyone sews it into anything. Ours is GOTS Certified Organic as a finished product, under licence GOTS-10229, with a yearly on-site audit by Oregon Tilth. One thing to know before you go looking for it: the licence is held by the workshop that sews our bedding, so their company name is what sits on the record rather than ours.
The certification carries a second benefit that people rarely connect to it. GOTS prohibits PFAS as an input and verifies residues below 25 parts per billion, and PFAS is the usual way a textile is made water resistant. Nothing of the kind is intentionally added here at any stage. The protector also meets GreenGuard Gold, which is a limit on what a product gives off into the air of the room.
