Pillow Fill Refills
Every Circadian pillow has a side zipper, which means the fill is replaceable rather than disposable. After a few years, natural fiber compresses and the pillow loses loft. A refill bag opens the zipper window back up. Add fresh fiber to the chamber, distribute by hand, and the pillow runs another cycle. This is the actual difference between a $30 polyester pillow that lives 18 months and a $149 cotton pillow that lives a decade with a $39 refill every few years.
Organic Cotton Pillow Fill Refill
The densest fill we make. GOTS Certified Organic under license GOTS-10229. Sold in 3 lb and 6 lb bags. The bestseller, partly because cotton compresses gradually and gracefully so refilling is predictable.
Organic Wool Pillow Fill Refill
GOTS Certified Organic long-staple wool. Wool springs back after compression more than other natural fibers, so refills are less frequent. Add a handful every couple of years to keep the loft consistent.
Wild-Harvested Kapok Pillow Fill Refill
Hollow microtube fiber, 80 to 90 percent air by volume. Kapok needs the most frequent refilling of the five fills because the fiber settles toward the edges with daily use. Add a handful every 6 to 12 months.
Tree-Tapped Latex Pillow Fill Refill
Shredded Dunlop latex pieces, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 verified. Latex doesn't compress like fiber fills, so refills are about restoring volume after years of use rather than seasonal top-ups.
Buckwheat Hulls Refill
USA-grown, pre-polished, air-jet cleaned, UV sterilized. Buckwheat hulls break down gradually over 3 to 5 years. Refill bags are sold in 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 lb sizes for one pillow up to a household.
Why refills matter for the lifetime cost of a pillow
A $30 polyester pillow replaced every 18 months costs $20 per year and contributes to landfill. A $149 cotton pillow plus a $39 refill every 3 years costs $13 per year and stays out of the waste stream. Natural fill plus a zippered design is what makes the math work.
60-night sleep trial on every refill, same as the pillows.
Common questions
How do I know when my pillow needs a refill?
If you wake up and your head is closer to the mattress than you remember, or you find yourself folding the pillow in half for support that used to be there, that's the signal. Most cotton pillows need a 3 lb top-up every 3 to 5 years.
Can I add a different fill than what the pillow originally had?
No. The covers are sized and shaped for specific fills, and mixing kapok into a cotton pillow (or any other crossover) changes the feel in ways that won't match the rest of the pillow.
Are the refill bags certified?
Cotton and wool refills are GOTS Certified Organic under license GOTS-10229. Latex refills are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 verified. Kapok is wild-harvested (the term organic doesn't apply to wild harvest). Buckwheat hulls are USA-grown without synthetic pesticide treatment.
