Most pillows sold as organic certify one thing: the cover. The fill underneath can be conventional cotton grown with synthetic pesticides, polyester blended in to cut the cost, or fibers softened with finishing agents that never make it onto the label.
You breathe against that for about a third of your life, closer to it than to almost anything you own, and the part that touches you is the part nobody photographs. We started Circadian to make the pillow we kept looking for and couldn't buy, one where the inside is as honest as the outside.

My mission is simple: reset what you expect from the things you sleep on.
I started Circadian from my apartment in Washington, DC, because I was tired of paying for products that didn't feel worth it and didn't match how I wanted to live, outdoors, dialed in, and unbothered about what sat against my skin for eight hours a night.
I designed the collection here, made every sourcing call myself, and partnered with a workshop in New Jersey that has been handmaking natural bedding since 1981. They build each pillow to order, by hand.
That is the pillow I set out to make, and the one I want you to sleep on.

Every pillow is hand-tufted in New Jersey.
We looked for a long time before we found it: the one workshop in the country already certified to make organic bedding, able to handle our volume, and willing to hand us complete control over fill, cover, thread, and stitch pattern. It has been making natural pillows for four decades.
Every pillow is filled by hand, hand-tufted, and inspected before it ships. The team there knows our pillows by name, and yours is built the week you order it.
Most natural pillow brands ship from overseas warehouses. We chose New Jersey because it meant shorter waits, mistakes we can fix the same day, and a supply chain we can stand in and see.
GOTS-10229 where it applies. Honest about where it doesn't.
Most pillows labeled organic certify only the cover fabric. Two of ours, the Organic Cotton and the Organic Wool, are certified organic end to end under the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS): fill, cover, thread, and dye. The license is GOTS-10229, issued by Oregon Tilth, and you can search it yourself in the public GOTS database.
The other four aren't fully GOTS certified, and we say so plainly. Buckwheat hulls and natural latex can't be certified under GOTS because the standard doesn't cover seed hulls or rubber. Wild-harvested kapok can't, because GOTS applies to farmed fiber. Those pillows still wear an organic cotton cover, just not a full-pillow certificate. Knowing which is which is the whole point.

When a fill has a quirk, like the soft rustle buckwheat hulls make as they settle in the first week, we explain it instead of tucking it into the fine print.
