The Birch Organic Pillow is shredded latex wrapped in wool with no zipper described, at $159 with a sale code and $198.75 without one. The Circadian Tree-Tapped Latex Pillow is $169 and opens at a full-length zipper, comes with 60 nights instead of 30, and has a refill sold for the day it settles. Their latex certificate names a foam manufacturer and no pillow; ours carries FSC certified rubber-tree sourcing and no organic claim. Their molded pillow has a polyester and TENCEL cover and cannot be adjusted, so it sits outside the table and in the questions. I've owned three latex pillows over the years and this is the first one I'd buy again. It's supportive. It runs cool. Being able to pull pieces out to lower the loft is the kind of thing I didn't know mattered until I had it.

What people ask before they choose.
Is the Birch Organic Pillow adjustable?
Not that their page says. It describes a shredded latex core wrapped in wool inside a sewn cover, with no zipper or fill removal, and one of their buyers wrote that it arrived very full with no way to adjust the height. Every Circadian pillow opens along a full-length side zipper, arrives about a third fuller than most people keep, and the fill you take out goes back in whenever you change your mind.
Why do Birch pillow reviews say it is both too soft and too hard?
Because a fixed pillow is built for an average neck, and their reviewers include a side sleeper who found it too soft, another who found it lumpy and hard, and a King buyer who found it flat. Take fill out until your ear sits over your shoulder; the gap a pillow fills is biggest on your side and almost nothing on your front. Ours lets you set that yourself and put fill back if you go too far.
Does the Birch pillow smell?
Two of their buyers returned it over a chemical smell that did not clear with airing. Ours is tapped from the tree and poured pure, with no synthetic latex blended in and nothing added to it.
Is the Birch Organic Pillow certified organic?
The latex is certified under the organic latex standard, and the certificate they link is issued to a latex manufacturer with a scope of mattresses, cores and toppers, with no pillow listed. Neither a certifier nor a number is published for the wool or the cotton, and GOTS is not claimed for the pillow anywhere we found. Our latex pillow has an organic cotton cover and FSC certified rubber-tree sourcing, and we do not call the latex organic. Our Organic Cotton and Organic Wool pillows are GOTS Certified Organic as finished pillows under licence GOTS-10229, printed on the product page.
How many nights does Birch give you to return a pillow?
Birch gives 30 nights, slept on, for a full refund with a prepaid FedEx label, and no exchanges on pillows. Ours is 60 nights, slept on, with the return label on us. Thirty more nights matters on a pillow that does not open, because whatever height it left the factory at is the height you keep. Ours you open and reset.
Which Circadian pillow is closest to the Birch Organic Pillow?
For the springy core, the Tree-Tapped Latex Pillow. For the plush wool surface, the Organic Wool Pillow, which is wool through and through under a finished-pillow organic certificate. Birch puts both in one bag and fixes the height; we sell each on its own and let you set it.
What about the Birch molded latex pillow?
It is a solid molded latex core in two fixed heights, 7 inches and 5.75 inches, under a cover that is 70 percent polyester and 30 percent TENCEL, at $111.25 regular price. It cannot be adjusted, and one of their side-sleeping buyers found even the lower height too tall. Our latex is shredded, so the height is yours, and the cover is organic cotton.
Where are Birch pillows made?

Does the Birch pillow go flat?
One of their buyers said it stopped holding after a year and needed re-fluffing through the night, and their warranty excludes normal softening and settling. Ours opens at the zipper and we sell a refill bag, so a pillow that has settled goes back to full instead of into the bin.
Is the Birch pillow heavy?
Their page does not publish the weight, and one buyer described the pillows as extremely heavy. Dense is what pushes back under your head all night. If you want light, our Wild-Harvested Kapok Pillow is about 2 pounds and feels closest to down.
