Circadian vs Savvy Rest

Circadian vs Savvy Rest: which natural pillows are better?

Circadian, on the trial and the size: ours can come back slept on inside 60 nights, comes in a true 20 by 26 Standard, opens at a zipper and has a refill sold; Savvy Rest takes no pillow back and makes a 24 by 16 Standard.

Savvy Rest's wool pillow and ours both carry a finished-pillow organic certificate. Ours prints the licence on the product page, comes in the 20 by 26 Standard that pillowcases are cut for, is priced above their $185 with the licence on the page and a refill sold; theirs is 24 by 16 and cannot be returned once shipped. Our kapok is $134 to their $145, our latex is slow-pour Dunlop on its own where theirs blends two latexes, and every Circadian pillow comes with 60 nights, slept on, and the return label on us.

Why ours, in five lines

  1. 60 nights, slept on, with the return label on us. Their pillows cannot be returned, opened or not.
  2. $134 for kapok against $145 at Standard, and a true 20 by 26 Standard on every pillow.
  3. A Standard that is 20 by 26 inches, the size standard pillowcases are cut for. Theirs is 24 by 16.
  4. Refill bags sold for every fill. One of their buyers asked for a kapok refill on their product page and none is sold.
  5. Latex and nothing else in the bag, all slow-pour Dunlop. Theirs blends two latexes from two processes in a ratio they do not publish.

Three tables, wool, kapok and latex.

Savvy Rest competes in three of our six fills. Their wording sits in every cell on their side, and the source is under each table. Their pages show a price range; the per-size prices come from the page's own variation data.

Wool, side by side.

Both are organic wool inside organic cotton under a finished-pillow certificate, and both open so you can take wool out. The differences are size, price, where the number is printed, and whether it can come back.

What Savvy Rest publishes, in their own words

Materials, their words: Organic wool in an organic cotton casing. The wool in our pillows and mattresses is certified organic. All Savvy Rest organic pillows have unbleached, naturally-colored organic cotton casings with a soft flannel finish.

Returns, their words: Unfortunately, we are unable to accept returns of this item. Allowing returns would require us to spray our products with chemicals in order to "clean" and resell them, harming the purity of our natural materials.

What they say it is best at, their words: The perfect organic pillow for those who "sleep hot." A supportive pillow that helps keep you cool. Feel: Medium-Firm.

Up close

Organic wool, scoured with the lanolin left in.

Every curl is a spring, and the crimp is what holds air around your head and moves moisture off your skin. It is scoured to GOTS rules, left undyed, and it never touches you; the surface against your face is the organic cotton cover.

What you're not sleeping on

The list most pillow makers hope you never read. None of it is in a Circadian pillow.

The arithmetic

What a night on it costs.

Price at Standard divided by the nights in the lifespan we publish, using the low end of our own range. Savvy Rest's side shows what they publish.

Organic Wool Pillow

$209 ÷ 1095 nights = 19.1¢ a night

$209 at Standard, over the 3 years we publish as the low end of its life, is 1095 nights, so it works out to about 19.1 cents a night. A refill bag resets that clock without buying a new pillow, so the real figure only goes down from here.

Savvy Rest

not published

Savvy Rest publishes a three-year limited warranty and no lifespan, so there is no number to divide.

What people ask before they choose.

Can you return a Savvy Rest pillow?

No. Their product pages say they cannot accept returns on pillows because reselling would mean spraying the product with chemicals, and their warranty page says non-defective items cannot be returned whether or not they have been opened. Every Circadian pillow comes with 60 nights, slept on, and goes back for a full refund with the return label on us.

Is the Savvy Rest shredded latex pillow messy to adjust?

Reviews on their own page and posts on r/Bedding say so: the latex is finely shredded, sticks to everything, and one asked for a separate case to store what came out. Ours arrives about a third fuller than most people keep. Set a bag beside the bed, take a handful out through the zipper, and keep it for later.

Does the Savvy Rest latex pillow smell?

One buyer on r/Mattress described a chemical smell from the shredded latex. Ours is tapped from the tree and poured pure, with no synthetic latex blended in and nothing added to it.

Is Savvy Rest GOTS certified organic?

Yes, for the wool pillow and the cotton casings. Their scope certificate through Control Union, licence CB-GOTS-CU-PE-33-846965, lists pillows at 60 percent organic wool and 40 percent organic cotton, and the number is in a PDF on their certifications page. Our Organic Cotton and Organic Wool pillows are GOTS Certified Organic as finished pillows under licence GOTS-10229 from Oregon Tilth, printed on the product page. Ask us for the certificate and we will send it.

Is Savvy Rest's kapok really organic?

Yes: their 2026 scope certificate lists a pillow line at 33 percent organic cotton and 67 percent organic kapok, and their certifications page links a supplier certificate for the kapok fiber that had expired as posted when we read it. Our kapok is wild-harvested, gathered from seed pods that ripened and fell, and we do not call it organic; the cover is organic cotton and the kapok we describe exactly.

What size is a Savvy Rest standard pillow?

24 by 16 inches, which is shorter and narrower than the 20 by 26 most pillowcases are cut for. Ours is 20 by 26 at Standard, with Travel, Queen and King beside it.

Which Circadian pillow is closest to the Savvy Rest kapok pillow?

The Wild-Harvested Kapok Pillow. Same soft, down-like feel from a hollow fiber, same organic cotton cover, and it opens at a full-length zipper. Ours is $134 at Standard against their $145, and it can come back inside 60 nights.

Does the Savvy Rest kapok pillow flatten?

One verified-owner review on their product page said it lost volume over the years and wished a refill were sold. Ours opens at the zipper: push the edges in and the mound is back, and a refill bag is sold for the day it wants more; they sell none.

Where are Savvy Rest pillows made?

Not published. Their site says their mattresses and platform beds are made in Central Virginia and says nothing about the pillows. Every Circadian pillow is filled and sewn by hand in New Jersey.

Does the Savvy Rest wool pillow sleep hot?

Their page says it is the pillow for people who sleep hot. Wool holds up to 30 percent of its weight in moisture before the surface feels damp, and in ours that wool sits inside an organic cotton cover, so the surface against your face stays dry.
