My search is finally over
I have spent years searching for a pillow that feels supportive and comfortable all night. I have finally found it. … I removed a bit of the material to get it exactly how I want it.
Soft, quiet wool on one side and buckwheat that molds like sand on the other, in one pillow you flip.
Goes with it
Most people find their side within the first week: firm buckwheat on the nights your neck needs holding, soft wool on the nights it does not. Sleep on it for 60 nights, and if it is not for you, send it back for a full refund.

Two Adjustable Chambers: Wool and Buckwheat
One side is organic wool, soft and dry against your face. The other is USA-grown buckwheat hulls, firm and cool, holding whatever shape you press into them. An internal fabric divider keeps the two apart, so the sides never mix.
There is a single zipper that opens the entire pillow. Inside, a reinforced fabric divider separates the wool from the buckwheat hulls. You can reach into either chamber and set that side on its own. Adding wool to the wool side does not change the buckwheat side, and vice versa. In practice you own two adjustable pillows that share one cover.
Each Buckwool is made and sewn by hand in a New Jersey workshop that has been making pillows since 1981, to a spec we set ourselves. The divider has to sit square and be reinforced before the hulls and the wool go in, or the two chambers stop working on their own, so the team fills, weighs and balances each pillow before closing it.
The buckwheat side gives you firm, cool support that holds your neck where you set it. The wool side gives you softer support that moves with your body and keeps the air at your face dry. You do not have to decide which kind of sleeper you are, or which problem matters most. You can switch by how you feel that night.

Turn the wool side up on the nights you want soft. It gives under your head without a sound. Wool is naturally hypoallergenic, and it keeps the air at your face too dry for dust mites to settle in.

Turn it over for polished buckwheat hulls. They mold to your head and neck like sand and stay in place until morning, with up to 68% less rustle than standard hulls.
Some nights your neck needs holding. Other nights you want something soft under your cheek and nothing more. Most people buy one pillow and live with it being wrong half the time. This one is firm buckwheat on one side and soft organic wool on the other, and you choose by turning it over.
The buckwheat side is the firmest support we make. The hulls flex under the weight of your head, lock against each other, and hold the neck in line until you move. Nothing sinks as the night goes on. It is the side people reach for when the neck needs holding.
The wool side is soft, it makes no sound, and it keeps you cool on its own. Warm damp air is what makes a pillow feel hot against your face. Wool pulls that damp out of the air and holds it inside the fiber, up to 30 percent of its own weight, then lets it go again. The heat leaves with it. What is left against your cheek is dry air, and dry air is what feels cool. It also stays too dry for dust mites to settle in.
Inside one cover the two fills lie in flat layers, one above the other, with a level cotton divider between them. A single zipper opens both. Take hulls out until the firm side sits where your neck wants it, then work wool in until the soft side matches. Turn the pillow over whenever you want the other one.
The hulls are grown on farms in the United States and are never roasted. A patented air-jet process breaks them into flatter, single-sided pieces, which cuts the sound by up to 68 percent. The wool comes from certified organic farms in New Zealand that move their flocks between pastures rather than grazing one field down. An organic wool side, a natural buckwheat side, an organic cotton twill cover. The same hands have been making these in a New Jersey workshop since 1981.
It weighs about 8 pounds in a Standard. The weight keeps it planted on the bed, and it is also why this one does not travel well.
Give it 3 to 5 years on the wool side. The buckwheat side refreshes with a few handfuls of new hulls whenever it loses spring, so the pillow keeps going.
One thing to know before you buy: buckwheat hulls are a documented respiratory allergen. If you have a known buckwheat allergy, choose the organic cotton, wild-harvested kapok or organic wool instead.

It took me 2 nights to get used to the firmness, and now I can’t imagine sleeping on a different pillow. … The tension from my neck is completely gone, I sleep better and wake up feeling rested. There’s no noise from the buckwheat btw.

I haven’t woken up with a sweaty head with either and that’s an amazing feeling especially in the AZ summer. The buckwheat side is a lot quieter and more comfy/soft than others I’ve tried in the past.

Most hybrid pillows mix two fills together so you cannot adjust them separately. Cheaper hybrids use polyester batting as the internal divider, which puts microplastic between you and the natural fills. We use an organic cotton fabric divider sewn into the pillow's interior, then put pre-polished USA-grown buckwheat hulls in one chamber and organic wool in the other. The wool side is the same wool we use in our standalone wool pillow. The buckwheat side is the same pre-polished hulls we use in our standalone buckwheat pillow. One zipper opens both sides, and each chamber adjusts independently.

Most pillows come at one fixed height, so you sleep at a height that was never set for your body, and your neck and shoulders pay for it in the morning. Every Circadian pillow arrives full instead. You set the height on night one, take a little more out over the trial, and the pillow you've shaped is yours to keep.
Side sleepers
Sleep on the buckwheat side and the hulls lock under your head, so your neck stays level all night.
Back sleepers
Pour a few handfuls of hulls out of the buckwheat side until your chin sits level. Set the height on the hull side, because hulls pour out and back in easily.
Stomach sleepers
Take out about half the hulls and turn to the wool side, which is softer and quieter against your cheek, so your head sits close to level with the mattress.
One zipper opens both chambers, and each side adjusts on its own. Keep the hulls you take out in a sealed bag and pour them back in any night you want more height.
About 30% more inside than most people keep, so you can shape it to your own neck.
If the height feels off a few weeks in, put some back or take more out.
Not for you after 60 nights? Full refund, and no restocking fee.
Refill buckwool hybrid sold separately if you want to bring the height back up after years of use.

Inside the pillow
The buckwool combines two natural fills in one pillow, kept separate by an internal cotton divider. One side firm and cool. The other side soft and temperature-regulating.
Buckwheat hulls lock into the shape of your neck. Turn it over and you get springy wool with no rustle.
Air moves between the hulls on one side. On the other, wool takes up to 30% of its weight in moisture before it feels damp, and the heat leaves with it.
Cheaper hybrids use polyester batting there. Ours is organic cotton fabric, so each chamber keeps its height when you change the other.
Each chamber is independently adjustable through a single zipper that opens both sides at once.
The wool chamber holds organic wool, naturally wavy and springy, and it keeps the soft side cool against your face. It takes up to 30 percent of its weight in moisture while staying dry on the surface, and the heat leaves with that moisture. The buckwheat chamber holds pre-polished USA-grown hulls that flex and interlock under your head for firm neck support. Our patented polishing process reduces rustle by up to 68 percent compared to standard hulls. The internal divider is reinforced organic cotton fabric sewn into the pillow's interior, so when you add or remove fill from one chamber, the other chamber stays exactly as you set it. Most people find a favorite side within the first week.

I spend as much time outside as I can. I wanted my eight hours in bed to be just as clean. Most pillows are foam and polyester, so I made one from plants and wool instead. You open it and set the height to fit your neck. Every pillow is sewn by hand in New Jersey and filled to order.

The Buckwool Hybrid weighs about 8 pounds in a Standard with its cover on, and how firm it feels depends on the side you sleep on. The buckwheat side is firm and molds to your neck, holding the shape you press into it the way sand does. The wool side is soft and springy, and it makes no sound. The weight comes from the hulls, and it keeps the pillow steady on the bed. One zipper opens both sides, so you set the height of each one yourself.
Yes. The buckwheat side rustles the way a standalone buckwheat pillow does, a soft shifting sound when you move your head. If that bothers you, flip to the wool side, which is silent.
That's fine and it happens frequently. Some people buy the hybrid specifically for the buckwheat side and never sleep on the wool side. Others do the opposite. If you find yourself exclusively using one side, the hybrid still works as a pillow. But if you know from the start that you only want one material, a dedicated single-fill pillow might be a better value.
The hybrid is more convenient, because you flip one pillow instead of swapping between two. It also costs less than buying a buckwheat pillow and a wool pillow separately. The trade-off is weight, about 8 pounds in a Standard against two lighter pillows, and each side holds a little less than its standalone counterpart.
The Buckwool Hybrid is two pillows in one. One side is pre-polished buckwheat hulls for firm, cool support that holds its shape. The other side is organic wool, softer and quiet. Wool draws damp away from your skin, and the heat leaves with it, so that side stays dry and comfortable. A fabric divider keeps the two fills apart, and one zipper opens both chambers. Flip it to whichever side your neck wants that night.
Yes, especially for people whose neck pain comes and goes. On the nights your neck needs firm, stable support, the buckwheat side holds your head in place without compressing. On the nights it feels better, the wool side gives softer cushioning and keeps the air at your face dry.
The buckwool hybrid suits people who need different support on different nights, particularly people whose neck or back pain comes and goes. Most people sleep on the soft wool side and flip to the firm buckwheat side when their neck wants more support.
The buckwheat side is cooler. Air circulates freely between the buckwheat hulls, which keeps the surface from trapping heat. The wool side regulates temperature through moisture wicking rather than airflow, so it's cooler than memory foam or synthetic materials but warmer than buckwheat.
Yes. The pillow has one zipper and an internal fabric divider. When you unzip it, you can reach into the wool chamber or the buckwheat chamber on its own. Adding or removing wool does not change the buckwheat side. Each side keeps its own height and firmness.
No. It's a single pillow with one cover and one zipper. Inside, a reinforced fabric divider creates two chambers, one for wool and one for buckwheat. The fills don't mix, but the pillow is one unified product. You flip the entire pillow to switch between sides.
One side is organic wool from certified organic farms in New Zealand, and the cover is organic cotton twill. The buckwheat hulls carry no organic certification, like most hulls on the market, so we call the wool side organic and stop short of calling the whole pillow organic. Our hulls are pre-polished and air-jet cleaned in our patented process, which takes out the dust, then sterilized with UV light and no chemicals. So less dust reaches the air you breathe on the buckwheat side.
The 60 nights start on December 25 for gift orders placed November 1 to December 24, 2026, not on the day the box arrives. That way the person who opens it on Christmas morning gets the whole trial.
