Jacob Katz, founder of Circadian
Jacob Katz is the founder of Circadian, a natural pillow brand. He designed the collection, made every sourcing call himself, and writes many of the posts on Pillow Talk, our blog.
Why he started Circadian
Jacob founded Circadian in 2025. In his words:
"My mission is simple: reset what you expect from the things you sleep on."
"I started Circadian from my apartment, because I was tired of paying for products that didn't feel worth it and didn't match how I wanted to live, outdoors, dialed in, and unbothered about what sat against my skin for eight hours a night."
"I am drawn to objects that are intuitive, made with integrity, and that do exactly what they promise. When something manages all three, it earns a permanent place in your life. That is the pillow I set out to make, and the one I want you to sleep on."
Where the pillows are made
Our pillows are handmade in a New Jersey workshop that has been making pillows since 1981. Jacob partnered with the workshop, and they build each pillow to order, by hand.
Most natural pillow brands ship from overseas warehouses. Circadian chose New Jersey because it meant shorter waits, mistakes that can be fixed the same day, and a supply chain we can stand in and see.
What he writes about here
Jacob writes for Pillow Talk, the Circadian blog. His sleep science posts cover how light sets your body clock, the best bedroom temperature and humidity, and why you might wake up at 3am. He also writes about pillows and bedding: which fill suits which sleeper, how to care for them, and what the labels on them mean.
