Incredible Pillow

I’ve gone through a lot of pillows trying to reduce morning neck stiffness. What I like about this buckwheat pillow is the “set it where you want it” feel. The fill doesn’t compress like down, so once I adjusted the loft, it stayed consistent night to night.

Practical notes: it’s heavier than a normal pillow, and it feels different at first. I removed a decent amount of hulls (I’m mostly a back sleeper) and now it sits at the right height. The cotton case feels sturdy and well made.

If you’re asking “what is a buckwheat pillow and how does it work? it basically molds like tiny pieces shifting into place, instead of sinking. That’s what gave me better support.

When I received this pillow, I was surprised at how heavy it was. This is not something you would want to get to a pillow fight with because you could do some serious damage. Calling this a pillow, having slept on it for the last three nights, is a misnomer. A pillow is a fluffy thing that you use to boost up your head and back when you’re trying to read a book or watch TV in bed. This is a support system for your head and neck while sleeping and in that role it has been absolutely amazing. I have gotten three of my best nights sleep since I started using it realizing that I’m not waking up in the middle of the night to adjust my crushed up deflated pillow, like I usually do. The position that I lay down in after adjusting the pillow is the position that I wake up in. The circadian pillow doesn’t lose its loft through the night, requiring you to constantly make changes in your position or with a pillow. It stays right where it is and it provides a consistent base.

I am going to continue to use this pillow for the next several weeks, but I have very good hopes and expectations for its performance.

One note… I bought this in the king size version which makes sense if this was a normal pillow. Because it is more of a support system for your head and neck I would buy it in the regular size. I won’t make that mistake with future orders.

This is a high-quality buckwheat pillow and the support is real. I’m a side sleeper and it holds my neck/shoulder line better than my memory foam did. The adjustability is the main win remove hulls and it gets lower/softer, add hulls and it gets higher/firmer.

That said: there is some noise when you move. I wouldn’t call it loud, but if you’re extremely noise-sensitive, it’s worth knowing. Also, it’s a “firm by design” pillow so if you want plush, kapok/cotton style, you’ll probably prefer a different material.

Overall, I’m keeping it because the support and temperature feel are better than what I had before.

I've tried them all, Hullo, comfycomfy, beans72, amazon garbagio. Circadian beats them all - it's probably half as loud and doesnt feel like sleeping on crunchy cereal, plus no more back pain since it molds to my neck and head.

Surprisingly, Circadian is also the least expensive standard size buckwheat pillow. Highly recommend this pillow

I was searching “best pillow for hot sleepers” and kept seeing buckwheat mentioned. I get why now. This pillow doesn’t trap heat the way foam does, and it doesn’t collapse the way down alternatives can.

The feel is more “precise” than cozy, like it locks in the shape you set. Once I adjusted it, it helped me stop stacking my arm under the pillow. I also like that it feels breathable and dry through the night.

If you want a pillow that stays lofty and structured, this is a strong option. If you like a soft, cuddly pillow, I’d look at wool or kapok instead.

I bought the Circadian Buckwheat Pillow because I wanted a firmer pillow that I could actually adjust. I’m a side sleeper and most “supportive” pillows still end up too flat or too hot. This one feels structured right away, and the big difference is that you can remove hulls until your neck feels neutral. It also sleeps noticeably cooler than my shredded foam pillow.

It’s not “silent,” but the sound is more of a soft rustle than a crunchy noise. After a few nights I stopped noticing it. If you like a squishy, sink-in feel, you probably won’t love buckwheat. If you want stable support and the ability to tune the height, this is the first pillow that actually delivered that for me.
