Firm support
Support firm enough to keep your neck straight until morning.
A soft pillow gives out under the weight of your head, so your neck bends toward the mattress for hours. A firm, adjustable fill holds the line. These three hold it best.

Why a firm pillow holds your neck
The gap between your head and the mattress is what a pillow has to fill.
Lie on your side and there's a wide space between your ear and the bed. A soft fill compresses into that space and keeps sinking, so your head drops and your neck bends all night. A firm fill flexes to your shape, then locks and stays there.
Buckwheat hulls do this best. They shift as you settle, then interlock into a cradle that keeps your neck aligned instead of collapsing under the weight the way foam does.

Three ways to firm
Firm is not one feeling. Pick yours.
All three hold their shape. They differ in how that firmness feels against your head.
Mold it to your neck and it holds all night.
Thousands of buckwheat hulls shift as you settle, then lock into a cradle that keeps your neck aligned instead of sinking like foam. We polish every hull smooth, so it moves with a soft rustle instead of a crunch, and air flows between the hulls to keep it cool.

Set your own firmness
The right firmness is the one your neck picks.
Each of these ships full or overstuffed, and you tune it through the side zipper. Pour hulls out of the buckwheat until the mound sits where your neck wants it. Lift a layer of wool or a handful of cotton until your head rests level. Keep the extra fill and add it back any time.
The firmness that fits you is the one you dial in yourself over the first few nights, held at whatever height your neck settles into.
Made by hand
I built these because every soft pillow I owned left me stiff by morning and every firm one was a rock I couldn't adjust. These hold their shape and still let you set the height, sewn by hand in a New Jersey workshop since 1981.Jacob, founder of Circadian
What buyers say
From people who wanted firmer support.
Best buckwheat pillow I've tried
I wanted a firmer pillow I could actually adjust. I'm a side sleeper, and this one is firm, adjustable, and sleeps cooler.
Buckwheat for support, wool to flip to
Buckwheat for alignment, wool for comfort, organic cotton cover, adjustable fill. Six weeks in, I'm a convert.
I don't flip my pillow anymore
I used to flip three or four times a night looking for the cool side. I don't with buckwheat. The air flows right through the hulls.
How firm support compares
Not all firm pillows hold up the same.

A few last questions
Before you decide.
Which is firmest?
Buckwheat. The hulls lock into the firmest, most supportive cradle and hold it all night. Buckwool gives you that firm buckwheat side plus a softer wool side to flip to. Dense cotton is the most pillow-like of the three, firm and supportive without the hull feel.
Is buckwheat too hard?
It's firm, but you control it. Pour out hulls through the side zipper until the support sits where your neck wants it. Most people take some out over the first week and settle into their height.
Will it help how I wake up?
People come to these when a soft pillow leaves them stiff, because firm support keeps the neck aligned instead of bending toward the mattress all night. You get 60 nights to feel the difference for yourself.
What if it isn't right for me?
Sleep on it for 60 nights. If it isn't your pillow, send it back and we cover shipping both ways. Most orders arrive in four to seven days.
