Formaldehyde
The softener behind wrinkle-resistant finishes, and a classified carcinogen. Certification bans it at every stage.
Flame retardants
Sprayed on most foam and synthetic bedding to pass burn codes. Wool passes them on its own, so there's nothing to add.

Certified, not just claimed
Organic on the label is not the same as organic all the way through.
Our organic cotton and wool pillows are certified organic through every layer, the fill, the cover, and the thread, made in accordance with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and traced from the farm to the finished pillow. Most brands certify the cover alone and call the whole thing organic.
The buckwheat, kapok, latex, and buckwool fills sit in that same organic cotton cover, and the latex is screened for over a hundred harmful substances to the safety tier used for baby products. Whichever you choose, the part touching your face is the clean part.

What makes these non-toxic?
Natural fills instead of foam and polyester, in an organic cotton cover, with no added flame retardants, formaldehyde finishes, or stain repellents. The cotton and wool pillows are certified organic through every layer by an independent third party, so it's verifiable, not a marketing word.
Which one is best if I'm chemically sensitive?
Organic cotton or organic wool. Both are certified organic fill to thread, so there's nothing in them to off-gas. Wool also keeps dust mites out on its own, which helps if allergies come with the sensitivity.
Do they have a smell?
They smell faintly of their fiber and settle within a day. Wool has a mild lanolin scent at first that fades. There are no chemical finishes to off-gas.
What if it isn't right for me?
