Long-staple organic cotton fill inside a sateen-weave organic cotton shell.
The fill stays put because the duvet uses hand-tied dumbbell knots every 20 centimeters across the entire surface. Each knot is a twisted cord tuft with splayed ends, joined at a cinched center. Old-school construction that keeps the cotton from migrating to the corners after a few washes.
The cover is breathable cotton sateen, which is why the duvet feels cool to the touch the moment you slip under it.
How it’s made
Hand-tufted in New Jersey by the same partner workshop that sews our pillows. The cotton batting layers in by hand. A sewer ties each dumbbell knot through the full thickness so the fill stays anchored. The construction takes longer than machine-quilted box-stitch, and it lasts decades instead of years.
Sizes: Twin, Full/Queen, King.
Fill, cover, thread, and dye process all carry Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification under license GOTS-10229, issued by Oregon Tilth.
The certification covers every component, including the thread used to tie the dumbbell knots.
What this means at your bedside
GOTS rules out chlorine bleaching, formaldehyde softeners, flame retardant chemicals, and synthetic finishes across the whole supply chain. The duvet sleeps cool and clean from the first night, and stays that way through years of washing.

Where the cotton duvet sits among the alternatives.
Cotton duvet vs down
Down is warmer per ounce but harder on people with feather allergies. Cotton breathes more, which is why it works year-round in moderate climates without making you sweat through the night.
Cotton duvet vs polyester-fill duvet
Polyester fill matts and clumps inside a few years and traps heat. Cotton holds its loft far longer and breathes naturally.
"Made in" labels only reveal a fraction of a product's journey. Supply chains are complex, involving multiple stages across different countries. As we strive for greater transparency, we outline each step of production and the country where it takes place. This information relates to the main material/s used.

Wash & care
Spot clean or dry clean. Avoid full machine wash. The dumbbell tufting and natural fill stay intact best when the duvet is dry cleaned once or twice a year. A breathable duvet cover handles regular laundry and protects the fill underneath.
Air the duvet outside on a dry day every few months. Sunlight neutralizes any residual moisture and freshens the fill.
Trial & returns
Sixty nights to try it out, with free shipping both ways.
If it is not for you, email jacob@circadianrest.com from your order address and we will arrange the return. If you would rather not ship it back, you can gift it or donate it instead. We ask for a photo of the donation receipt before the refund goes through, so the duvet actually finds a home rather than ending up in a landfill.
