Frequently asked questions
Can I use this in any cotton pillow?
Yes. The fiber works in any zippered cotton pillow, ours or another brand. Open the side zipper and add cotton a handful at a time until the loft matches where you want it. The fiber is the same long-staple GOTS Certified Organic cotton we use in our Organic Cotton Pillow.
How often should I refill a cotton pillow?
Most people top off every three to five years. Cotton compresses gradually with use and the pillow sits lower than it did at unboxing. Add cotton a handful at a time and re-test the loft against your shoulder width when you lie on your side.
Is the cotton GOTS certified?
Yes. The fiber carries Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certification under license GOTS-10229, issued by Oregon Tilth. GOTS rules out chlorine bleaching, formaldehyde softeners, flame-retardant chemicals, and synthetic finishes across the entire supply chain.
Where is the cotton grown?
Texas, USA, on certified organic farms. The fiber is long-staple, 1.25 inches or longer per fiber, which spins into denser, more resilient tufts than standard short-staple cotton.
How much cotton do I need to refill a pillow?
A standard cotton pillow holds about 3.5 pounds when fully stuffed. Most refill jobs use half a pound to a pound. Start small and add a handful at a time until the loft sits right.
