Handmade in the USA

Every piece is handmade from the highest-quality sustainably sourced fibers of their kind. We make all of our products in New Jersey

Non-toxic materials

We've never used chemical treatments. We believe in using materials that come from the earth and can be safely returned to the planet.

Pre-polished buckwheat hull pillow encased in organic cotton.

Our buckwheat hulls are pre-polished to create single-sided hulls instead of the traditional pyramid shape. This greatly reduces the crunch that most buckwheat pillows have.

Our hulls are cleaned without chemicals or roasting. Yet, we still remove insects, dust, and sharp points.

Product features:

  • Provides firm, adjustable support that helps keep your head and neck in a more neutral position
  • Holds its shape all night instead of collapsing flat like foam or fiberfill
  • Stays cooler and drier thanks to the air channels between the hulls
  • Lets you fine-tune the height by adding or removing hulls through the hidden zipper

Materials:

  • Fill: USA-grown, pre-polished natural buckwheat hulls
  • Cover: Organic cotton twill
  • Adjustable loft: Ships generously filled; use the zipper to remove hulls until the height feels right for you

How it works

1
It arrives overstuffed on purpose
Every pillow ships with extra fill so you can dial it in, not because we guessed wrong. Open the box, put it on your bed, and sleep on it the first night as-is.
2
You make it yours
Use the zipper to remove fill a little at a time until the height feels right for your sleep position. Most people take out about a handful. Keep the extra in a bag for later.
3
Sleep on it for 60 nights
Give it a real shot. If it's not right after 60 nights, we'll take care of you. No restocking fees, no hassle. We'd rather you have the right pillow than keep the wrong one.
Free shipping both ways. Handmade in New Jersey. All six fills are adjustable.

Which natural pillow is right for you?

Six fills. Six different feelings. Every pillow is adjustable via zipper, handcrafted in a GOTS-certified facility in New Jersey, and ships free with a 60-night trial.

Feels like
Dense and supportive. Like the best hotel pillow you've ever slept on, but holds its shape.
Like sleeping on a down pillow, but plant-based. Soft, squishy, and naturally hypoallergenic.
A beanbag that molds to your head and locks in place all night.
Soft and lofty. Compresses gently, bounces back, never feels clammy.
Two pillows in one. Firm buckwheat side, plush wool side.

FAQ's

Buckwheat Pillow

What is a buckwheat pillow?

Buckwheat hulls are the outer shells of buckwheat seeds. They’re firm, breathable “micro-hulls” that shift and lock into place, creating stable support with airflow between the hulls.

  • Best at: Support, neck alignment, staying cool, adjustability
  • Best for: Back sleepers, combo sleepers, people who want a “structured” pillow
  • Not ideal for: Those who want a plush, cloud-soft feel (it’s supportive, not fluffy)
Is a buckwheat pillow too firm?

Buckwheat is naturally supportive and can feel firm at first. Most people do best after removing some hulls and shaping a “neck ridge” so the head can settle.

Is buckwheat noisy?

Buckwheat has a natural rustle. If you’re sound-sensitive, consider buckwool (gentler) or a quieter fill like wool/kapok/latex.

Why does buckwheat feel heavy?

The density is part of why it supports alignment so well, but it also means it’s heavier than most conventional pillows.

Does buckwheat put pressure on the ear?

It can for some side sleepers. If you’re ear-sensitive, buckwool or wool is often the better “supportive but gentler” option.

How do I adjust loft correctly?

Start by removing a small amount of hulls, then build a shallow “nest” with a slight ridge under the neck. Small changes can make a big difference.

How much buckwheat is in each pillow?

Each Circadian pillow ships overstuffed by design so you can dial in the perfect height and firmness. Use the zipper to remove a little fill until your neck feels aligned and your shoulders can relax. Then store the extra fill for seasonal adjustments or future top-offs.

Are the buckwheat hulls certified organic?

The cover uses certified organic cotton fabric for traceability; buckwheat is a natural material but isn’t typically GOTS-certified, and certification isn’t the only indicator of comfort or quality.

If third-party certification is a must-have, we can point you to our certified organic options (cotton/wool).

That said, our buckwheat is air-jet cleaned and 1-sided vs the typical pyramid shape. This results in softer, quieter buckwheat hulls.

How do you clean the hulls? Do you use chemicals or roasting?

We use a proprietary cleaning method using air-jet propulsions to avoid chemical treatments and avoid roasting/heat processing. We use multi-step air-cleaning and dust-removal methods designed to reduce fine particles and improve “pillow-grade” feel. This typically eliminates 60% of the buckwheat pillow crunch.

Is buckwheat good for hot sleepers?

Often yes, air moves through the hull structure better than many foams, but feel preference matters more than any single feature.

Can I buy extra hulls later?

Yes, if you want to refresh loft over time or use hulls for other pillows/projects, we can help with bulk fill. Buy some here.

Are your pillows adjustable?

Yes, all of our fills can be adjusted by removing or adding fill through the zippered opening until the loft feels right for your neck and sleep position.

What is your sleep trial / return policy?

We honor a 60-night trial. Because many pillows can’t be resold after use and shipping heavy natural fills can be wasteful, we often use a “second life” return approach (keep/gift or donate/rehome) while still taking care of you financially.

Will this help with neck/shoulder discomfort?

Many customers shop for better alignment and support. The key is matching sleep position + loft + feel preference; we’re happy to help you get the fit right.

Does it have an odor when it arrives?

Natural materials can have a mild “fresh material” scent at first. Airing it out (and using a breathable pillowcase) typically resolves this quickly.
